TCT: The Cropped Turtleneck

I was a child of the 90s. I grew up thinking Britney Spears in a crop top and low rider jeans was the pinnacle of fashion. I dreamed of looking as cool as her.  By the time I was old enough to wear this trend (over eighteen and out of my parents home,) crop tops had become a shirt of the past, discarded with tamagotchis and disc mans.

Alas, at a vintage sale, I spotted a Jean Paul Gaultier cropped turtleneck. A bit intimidated at first, I decided to try it on for fun. The long sleeves and high neck saved the top from being too 90s pop star.

I paired it with a burgundy beret and matching belt, long suede skirt and Jimmy Choo clutch.

Covered from head to toe except for a sliver of the waist. A balancing act of modesty and suggestion.
