Back to School Uniform

High school uniforms, where the only variation on your outfit is how short your skirt is, can be a bit boring. There is some comfort in a uniform, a no stress way to get dressed. Less time picking out clothes = more with a telephone book sized collection of Joan Didion essays.

In the fall, as we pile on layers. I always pick a couple of colors to “make a uniform.” This season, it’s burgundy and rust.

I started with a plaid skirt. Try these by Dolce Vita and Free People or this authentic school girl one, that’s only 14.99. I paired it with a matching beret by Parkhurst.

Shoes by Opening Ceremony, similar ones by Pedro Garcia and Marc Jacobs.

A blazer for extra preppiness. Like this one by Dorothy Perkins or by Eddie Bauer.
